Thoughts on Re-designing Academic Commons

Here is a running list of ideas for discussion

  1. Get rid of the tabs for:
    1. center for teaching and learning
    2. developer's kit
    3. lola exchange
  2. rename 'the library' tab to 'archive'
  3. add a tab called 'feed' which would point to http://www.academiccommons.org/aggregator
  4. add a tab called 'wiki' which would lead to our wiki pages
    1. clean up the wiki!
  5. Move the 'welcome to AC' box presently at the top to a sidebar
  6. enable comments without needing to be logged in (how to do this?
  7. Get rid of 'my groups' from the sidebar
  8. Add mention of NERCOMP in the footer
  9. For 'email this page', allow to be sent to multiple recipients?
  10. Improve the member profile area to include more, better info
    1. David, what were your thoughts on this?
  11. Allow people to subscribe (email and RSS) to comments on individual items
  12. Change 'add a link' to 'add a story' and make it a really simple form, which would be the title of the story, the body of the story, and some tags. If the user isn't logged in, we should also entertain (a la slashdot) of allowing non-members to post stories without logging in or creating an account.
